Since I came to college,
I had been noticing this girl around,
She always seemed to be troubled,
I just thought, something would be wrong.
Then, after a long time,
One day I saw her smiling,
She had a blink in her eye,
Was enjoying the sport she was playing.
I didn't know her,
Never spoke to her,
But for some reason,
Happiness filled my heart.
I started observing her more,
Changed my route from the hostel,
I dined at the times I expected her to,
She must have noticed me, but I couldn't tell.
I came to know her department,
Checked her details on the net,
One fine day went and spoke to her,
So resolute, how and why do I get?
"What's this about?",
"Just wanna be friends."
"I'm in a hurry,
Let's meet some day else."
"How will we meet?", she asked,
I said, "I'll definitely cross you in campus."
It took some time, but I did,
It was coincidental, I didn't make it happen.
We introduced each other,
Mind you, very formally,
I don't know, can't explain why,
I couldn't speak spontaneously.
I had breakfast with her the other day,
It was just another formal talk,
I sent her a friend request,
Thought it would be cakewalk.
She didn't appreciate of it, however,
Thank God she didn't keep me in the dark,
All I got was an email,
"I am sorry, but this ain't gonna work".
